URIs

Shareaza supports 5 types of URIs. If you check a link format, Shareaza will set up your browser to send these links to Shareaza, so that you can start downloading immediately.

Magnet links look like this: magnet:?xt=urn:bitprint:sha1 hash.Tiger root hash&dn=filename. They are the prefered links to use with Shareaza (and other file sharing applications), because they do not require the use of a specific p2p program, and are very flexible.

Gnutella links look like this: gnutella://sha1:sha1 hash/filename/. They are very rarely used and not recommended. Shareaza no longer supports the creation of these links.

ed2k links are the links used in eDonkey2000 and eMule. They look like this: ed2k://|file|filename|filesize in bytes|ed2khash|/.

Piolet links (Mp2p links) are used by the Piolet network. Shareaza doesn't support the Manolito protocol, but can read its links.

BitTorrent links are a bit different. If you check this box, Shareaza will be used to open files with the .torrent suffix. You have to download these files with your web browser and open them. Shareaza will then read the .torrent file, and using the information contained within it, begin downloading and uploading files.

Download Manager

If you check this option, Shareaza will be used for all your web downloads, like a Download Manager such as GetRight. This is done by integrating Shareaza into your web browser to capture the links. You can choose which filetypes Shareaza captures from your web browser. This feature currently only works for Internet Explorer. With some extra configuration Firefox can also use Shareaza as a download manager.
