It might be worthwhile to do this in a more general way, by adding a check if the file name you have has the same extension as peers have for the same file. If not it would open a dialog that shows a list of the file names peers have and lets you change the file name you have. Having that info is about the only eMule feature I miss in Shareaza. (I use it as a quick check to see if the files I find by search really are the correct ones.)

Google is also the best source for finding a torrent search engine. I can't give a good example, I am afraid, that is why I asked if somebody here might know more about torrent search engines. Other BT clients seem to integrate to them, so they probably have some utility.

None exists? The first 10 hits out of over 31 million googling "torrent search" gives sure look like they are existing torrent search engines. Did you mean none are reliable?

Those were the things I wanted to know, since I have no clue whatsoever. If nobody else knows either we might as well forget about this.

Thanks. That is more or less what I thought you might mean. Not sure if you are right though.

Incidentally, while looking for something else I stumbled on this. So looks like it wouldn't actually be necessary to pick a search engine. We could just let Shareaza support adding torrent search engines the same way Firefox supports adding search engines. Or Shareaza supports adding ED2K servers. Still no idea if it would be useful, but it seems it would be doable.

So 2 of "Big 3" are down, RIP TPB and MiniNova. But IsoHunt up and running !

98c5c361d0be5f2a07ea8fa5052e5aa48097e7f6 - Ubuntu 9.10 btih

http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=98c5c361d0be5f2a07ea8fa5052e5aa48097e7f6

So isohunt.com can search by hash.

P.S. isohunt.com need to register their business in Mongolia, so they will be protected from bastards like CRIA/RIAA and others :)
