General Forum Rules

:!: No Illegal or Objectionable Content
Posts including pornographic images or any type of illegal/pirated content are not allowed. Also, please refrain from posting any sort of link to this type of content. In addition to regular internet links, this includes MAGNET, eDonkey, BitTorrent, and other types of URIs.

:!: No Crossposting
Do not post your topic in more than one forum. Your topic will be seen and responded to accordingly.

:!: No Spam
Do not post the same suggestion or opinion repeatedly.

:!: Respect Other Forum Members
Avoid flaming, slamming or any other condescending behavior. Also, do not post other users' IP addresses or other personal identifying information without their explicit permission, including in images. We strongly recommend that you do not post email addresses openly on the forum, as the address may be exposed to spam, unsolicited communications, etc.

:!: Search First!
Your problem or feature request has probably been discussed in the past on the forums. Please use the search function before you post your problem or suggestion.

:!: Consult the Wiki!
The Shareaza wiki is a very resourcefull repository of documents, detailing how Shareaza works, and how to get the best out of it.
Please see if your question is in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) before posting.

:!: Titles
Use a title that describes the content of your post. Do not use all caps or special characters to draw attention.

:!: Private Messages
Do not send questions pertaining to topics of discussion on this board via personal messages or email to moderators or admins; they will be ignored. Be reasonable when using private messaging.

:!: Topic Count
Do not post just to increase your number of posts. If you have nothing to say on a certain matter then do not post. The number of posts on this board has no direct relation to the experience of a member.

Our Actions if You Break Them

:!: Moderation Team
We have a very active moderation team and a lot of members who will remind you of the rules should you not stick to them, be it for not having read them properly or for simply not caring. The moderators have the power to ban you!

:!: 3 Strikes
Each moderator can report you for violating a forum rule. Such a report contains a timestamp, the forum rule you violated and the post in question. Such a report will result in you getting a "strike". The report will point out the number of strikes left until you will be suspended. A violation of rules 4 or 6 will result in two strikes (per offense) rather than one, because we feel that violating them does serious harm to this community. "3 strikes and you're out", though the 3 strikes have to occur within 90 days time or they will be forgotten. 3 strikes will get you banned for 1 week.

:!: Reinstated
After 90 days of suspension your account will be reinstated as we believe everybody should get a second chance. The strike list will start from zero again. If a member should continue to violate forum rules and gets suspended once more his/her account will be terminated without further notice.

:!: Contest a Strike
If you wish to contest a strike send a private message to the admin with a reference to the post in question and an explanation why you think the strike is not justified. In case of a suspension you can send a complaint to a future email address. The email is only to be used in case of a suspension and you forfeit your right to an appeal if you use it to contest a regular strike not leading to a suspension. By publicly complaining about a strike in any way (starting with pointing out "I've been striked for this and that"), or go badmouthing this forum and its members on another board, you also forfeit your rights to an appeal and the strike will be permanent without exception.
