Why i start use Shareaza : there was no other application with such advanced partial handling - import chunks to partial from file, import edonkey partials, forced verification and so on. And creating "links" for multiple files or search hits using predifined or manually created templates is really outstanding. There is no other application to do such thing.

* First p2p to use tiger tree hashes
* First to have a virtual library view
* First to support SHA1 hashes in torrents ... others added to accomodate
* First P2P to use magnet uri's
* First to support a social realm browseable (library and user profile)
* a UDP transciever, one that actually scales back due to congestion ... what utorrent calls uTP ... ideas where in Shareaza.
* First to have and still the only one to have customizable download folders which moves files of different types upon completion.
* Only P2P client to have such detailed control over upload settings.

I'll list more as memory returns :) , but Shareaza was truly a trend setter. Also just the features alone in the security window and the security features alone are items for which Shareaza did first and in some cases is the only one doing it.

Wasn't Shareaza the first P2P to have ratings?

No eMule had it before ... well atleast a commenting and rating mechanism. That is why we are able to read ratings from eD2k sourced files.

Well Shareaza was the first P2P program I have ever used. That counts as a first doesn't it?

Has Shareaza been first p2p soft with code licensed free and open sourced? If yes should be one of essentials I suppose.

Wasn't Shareaza the first client having support for virtual MP3 files? (Virtual MP3s are files hashed without the metadata tag of these files, in order to make files that have the same content but a different included metadata tag look the same in P2P networks)

Audiogalaxy was the first to strip metadata from Mp3 to identify same Mp3 with different metadata.
