High RAM usage Build r8662

Postby loopyloo » 29 Jun 2010 18:51

I left shareaza running for a few hours and when I returned it was using ~1,432,000 k RAM and rising. Has anyone else noticed this? Memory leak?

How did you find the amount of memory used by Shareaza? In task manger?

You know, it maybe a virus injected to Shareaza process and consuming memory.

Yes I got the figures from Task Manager. I have seen this a few more times since first posting. And sometimes even soon after shareaza starts.. (running for only 30min or so). I run regular anti-virus and anti-spyware/malware sweeps.

IMHO could be memleak somewhere. Is it happening when your Shareaza is ran in Hub or Leaf mode?

I've got shareaza set to leaf node only. So it wasn't to do with shareaza becoming a hub.

I haven't noticed it lately.. maybe it's gone away.. :)

Shareaza seems to get stuck once in a while (rarely!) for no visible reason. Maybe it is some sort of a house cleaning function that takes temporarily lots of memory and CPU? Rebuilding/defragmenting a database or something like that.

That amount of committed memory is higher than any regular event I can imagine. You need to run it in a debugger and make a memory dump.
