Some routine info is logged as error

Postby siavoshkc » 24 Mar 2010 14:17

Messages like:

[03:45:28] Refusing connection from 38.107.x.169 because this is a shielded leaf node.
[03:47:03] Received a malformatted query hit packet from 173.66.x.79, ignoring.
[03:48:12] Download host 82.41.x.226 is busy, waiting in queue at position #10 of 10 ("large files").
[03:48:59] Received an unnecessary push connection from 41.141.x.229.
[03:49:06] Download host 75.156.x.169 is busy, retrying in 400 seconds.
[17:42:36] Timed out waiting for request from upload host 195.132.x.27.
Or refuzing upload because all matching queues are full.

Are not error. They are routine events. This leads to polution of system window. A normal user may think why there are so many errors, whats wrong?

Most of them are not even warning, just information.

What exactly is the bug? Incorrect default for the "verbose" level?

I don't know why I opened it in Bugs but the question is we want to see messages as an expert or a normal user. From view point of a normal user errors are things she must do something about them; something is wrong. So connection dropped is an info not an error. But such kind of real errors (user must care) in Shareaza are shown in message boxes.

Sorry, but I still don't understand, since others do this is obviously a problem at my end. Are you referring to these messages being colored red which makes them look like errors to users? Or that most of them shouldn't be shown by default at all? (Different default verbose level.)

Yes, that's most probably what he wants, and I do think the same. These messages should be colored in orange instead of red, as they are no real errors (because errors are something that requires fixing in the eyes of users).
