Shareaza

When downloading a .mp3 file I right click the file and select "preview File" or "Preview Partial File" and I get the following error message.

Shareaza could not instantiate its MediaService plugin. Please reinstall Shareaza, and confirm that you have the necessary media codecs and output drivers installed.

The problem was not present in Shareaza 2.4.0.0

The problem is with Shareaza 2.4.0.4 Release 32-bit (r8222 20091007) on Windows Vista 32-bit SP2.

This is very old debug version. please try current: 2.4.0.4 r8240, and let us know if this problem is still there.

Just installed r8242 20091013, still getting the same error.

I think you need a fresh install. Uninstall current installation and install 2.5.

I had the same problem with the dev builds. But it seems that with Shareaza 2.5 the media plugin was installed (it wasn't installed with any of the dev build I think).

Have you tried to instal k-lite megapack codecs? Perhaps this means that in rewritten MediaPlayer some codecs are missed? Or one of them is just broken or ommited during compliation. If it would work after instalation of codecs we would know the problem is with mp3 codeck of MediaPlayer IMHO.
