Hmmm,
this looks like some botched test, a uninitialised Var, a race, some internal f*ck-up (counter reached -1 aka 4 Billion).
Not sure...

Surplus connection could mean that it thinks there is already a connection and a node is connecting twice. And the 2 header debug messages supports this. Problem with the parser maybe.

Confirming that the latest build r8662 is not accepting G2 leaf connections in hub mode for me too.

Well, as this has been solved within 2.5.4.0, I am closing the discussion now... :)
