Can someone clarify what's happening with this fantastic information that the guys have dragged from all corners of the net?

What Wiki will be used? You need to make a decision pretty fast, it's nearly 2 weeks since the original was lost.. that's too long for it to be out of commission

Do you great people need a different or better host for all of this?
I'd be happy to setup something for the REAL Shareaza and all of the great people that help develop it!
Now I will say this: I am NOT the best provider but, as most of you know I do pretty good with the gwc.frodoslair.net cache
and by now I would hope that I am a trusted member of the "community" with regards to Shareaza.
You guys can register the domain and just point it at my servers if you'd like.
I am quite capable of setting up a phpBB3 forum and giving 1 or 2 people ftp access to develop/setup the rest of the site.
Also,as an added bonus I am in the process of upgrading my net connection to a 20/5 and bandwidth shouldn't be a problem
Anyway, the offer is there if you guys want a new host and there is no rush to decide what you want to do!

SF has been the project's base for the larger part of it's life and there has never been a significant problem, I think we can put up with the rather basic facilities

I will of course continue to run the cache at frodoslair.net and I have some good news about that!

Starting in a few days the cache is going to be on a 20Mb/5Mb FiOS internet connection from Verizon.
It's a business account so hosting sites,e-mail,DNS etc... is not a problem
This is a big upgrade from my Speakeasy DSL line that is 3Mb/768Kb.

Just let me know if I can help(don't have the spare million yet though) hehehe.

I'd like to congratulate and say thanks to al who have involved in Shareaza wiki rescue mission impossible. I think we are on the path to real success so to get back whole wiki. Still there are pages that needs verification, outdated, graphic files are needed etc.etc. Non-english versions will need also work. Still there is lots of work and update/verification/translation/contribution is very needed. If you would read this for first time and would like to help you are welcome, very welcome indeed. Help Shareaza wiki if you can.

We can say that sabotage effect has been broken. And this is our small success, or even big one. One of many. And another reason why this proud to be open source.

I say this also because soon we will be faced trademark problems and we are to be prepared for every possible scenario. No matter what will happen - the community and project must be prevented and survive. And this depend entirely on all of us awareness and involvement. You have been warned - get ready. * The English version of wiki has been reinstated by December 2009 in significant part, so it seems to be useful for general use. Especially new users can find in proper form basic help and explanations useful also for 2.5.0.0. Some pages (especially those advanced or located on deeper level) are recovered, however not formatted properly but readable, sorry - this usually means they were not verified yet. New content about 2.5.0.0 version is being added and updated, so wiki is alive and in fact becomes different then it was before.
* Non-English versions status depend on activity of particular language editor (also time he has devoted to edition and recovery of English version, which is priority number 1). Some looks very good, some doesn't look at all. Unfortunately, during efforts to reinstate non-English pages in very many number of cases content is empty (so lost) or contains only "TranslateMe" template. These efforts will be continued more intensively when English version reinstate will be finished and verified, so actual. Effects, if any possible, will be pasted in a form of row content as aviable (due to lack particular language skills) with "Recovery" template explaining situation.

Current Shareaza Wiki content consist of last aviable for us backup and recovered pages which are being added one by one. This is backup from 2008 year so it is quite old, however can be useful. You can use it as trusted content, however have in mind it is outdated in many places. We are sorry for that, but the only way to change it is to recover lost Shareaza Wiki pages. Or get it back from person who had sabotaged it, William Shields Erwin, but that would require his good will and cooperation hence we think we can't count on this. Thx for the update on the wiki recovery status. Good to hear that it's going on... I'm currently working on reorganizing parts of the wiki structure (maybe we should use categories (like Wikipedia has)... Maybe I'll check this in the months to come.)

What about the Polish translation? As you are the only one who's natively speaking Polish here, you're the only one who can give me more information about this specific translation.

I am unable to verify and edit correctly all languages versions, so I'd like give them to interested perhaps here asking for help with wiki recovery.

Those are not all, but those I believe are easy to edit, recover and reinstate in current wiki, but first of all most recent, hence actual, I could extract by now.

They can be opend in OpenOffice and edited to extract needed content and remove all unneeded elements of site interfce. In comments there are marked start and end of content.
After this you can menu>file>export >choose there format: mediawiki.txt - this will produce txt file formatted in wiki style, however some additional editting can be needed in any text editor or in wiki itself.
Open it in notepad or in OO, sometimes needed is to remove some nonprintable characters (represented by empty quadrats) in first lines to obtain plain text needed for wiki.

To see proper wiki formatting, if you are not sure, compare content with English page version.
Before you would decide to add a page please COMPARE CAREFULLY current Emglish version, and adjust translation to reflect recent changes! This is very important, please.

Please remember that language indicator is now SUfix but not PREfix, so they are added at the end eg. FAQblablabla/pl.

Many pages contains only "TranslateMe" template, in such case please leave it at page with "recovery" template, but with comment that recovered page doen't contain anything more, so we will know this site need to be translated again.

I hope this can help in wiki recovery. If you want to do it, but perhaps can check if they can be used or sb else who would be interested to do this is - please help.

If you will leave at wiki pages links to graphic files I will try to load them, if possible. This can be done if I know file name (from link on wiki page) and I have this file. I dont know if I have all, and they cant selected like recovered sites I have attached in archive.

Any single attached archive is about 2-3% of raw material I tried to went through to extract this and filter out trashes and unuseable things

Well of main concern to me is please back up the Development and the sub forum Code Submission as a high priority. I hate that every time a code submission or a good discussion is lost without archiving. This to me is more than words, as it is the essence of real work put into this program.

But if it is possible to make backups of the entire forum ... lets go for that as well. I will personally download and cache them on my PC and on another server for redundancy.
