perhaps because you have connected to Gnutella? Try to disable Gnutella at Settings. From the other hand are those results false or correct?

gnutella1 is the only one that connects . gnutella2 has been trying to connect for the last 2 hours and edonkey doesnt connect at all. if i disable gnutella1 nothing is connected

i dont know what you mean about limewire results being false or correct. i thought all limewire was risky. thats why i use sahareaza in the first place

would zonealarm firewall have anything to do with it?

thanks for your reply

It's not that LimeWire is risky in itself (in fact it's a pretty good P2P application IMHO), but it connects to the Gnutella network (Gnutella1 for Shareaza) which is entirely decentralized, so there's not much one can do to prevent spammers from flooding the network with junk. The same also applies to other decentralized networks and P2P clients, including Shareaza. Basically you should use an antivirus (The free edition of Avast does a good job for me), as well as a security filter and check files on Bitzi (right click on a search results > Web Services > See Bitzi Ticket) to see other users' ratings to limit the risks. You may also use a little trick to avoid spam: let's suppose you're looking for "Great Speeches - Martin Luther King Jr. - I Have A Dream". Search for "Marthin King Luther Dream Have", the results returning exactly this query are obviously spam, but those returning the correct title should be the ones you'd download.

Also, if you cannot connect to Gnutella2, pick a hub on this webcache, and see if it helps. As for eDonkey, you can update your server list with the following URL: http://peerates.net/servers.php (Tools > Shareaza Settings > eDonkey > Download server list). Also, press F8, display the eDonkey server list, then click with the right button of your mouse on a server and then choose "Connect Now" and see if that helps to get you connected.

What does a connection test tell you?
Access it via "Help>>Connection test..." from within Shareaza.

thanks for suggesting that old deadth

connection test result

TCP: The TCP connection has been accepted by your computer and the request has been answered. This means that other clients from the networks can properly connect to you.
UDP: No answer has been received from your client. This can have various reasons, like that your firewall or router isn't properly configured for Shareaza, or Shareaza is not running on this port, or not connecting to the networks.
At least one problem has been detected and you probably have to configure your firewall or router for Shareaza. If you need help with configuring your firewall or router, visit this page on the wiki: FAQ: Routers/Firewalls.

I don't think the connection test has a lot to do with his problem, even if it failed he should still be able to connect (but he'd get a LowID on eDonkey). Since his TCP connection is OK, and as eDonkey doesn't use UDP, I suspect his ed2k server list and G2 host cache are empty (or filled with Foxy hosts for the latter). Besides, sometimes UDP packets get lost, so if the test succeeds for TCP only it might make sense to do it again a couple of times to make sure that the problem wasn't just a momentary hiccup.

PS: He's using zonealarm firewall according to the second post.
