broken avi

Postby flitox » 12 Feb 2010 17:29

Hello,

i've noticed that at least since ver 2.5.1, when merging parts to create a previous of a downloading avi file, the file created cant be played fully because (when opened with vlc) it appears to be broken. same thing is happening if you open the .part file.
with older version, most of the time, you were able to view all downloaded parts (no broken file report) while now, most of time you can only see the 1st part downloaded.

has something changed in shareaza to explain such behavior???
it does not occur with mpg or rar/zip files

also congratulation for ver 2.5.2, i had great downloading speed with it and also have finally been able to get all pieces of all my incomplete files who were waiting to be downloaded for months for some!!!!

It depends how many pieces you already downloaded of the file. More than 50%-75% is recommend, I think...

When u play directly from partials VLC plays perfectly even if download have 10%, but for most file formats beginning of files is required.
And why create preview file when u use VLC ?

the point of creating a preview is to get rid of of all the missing pieces. otherwise you have to jump to go to the next video part....

if i install the old media player (http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/share ... ?f=2&t=408), will the preview work like it use, making fully playable avi and not broken ones?
