For example you want to know how much you've downloaded in two last months or average number of downloads that have been completed each week for last month or how much you've been uploaded today. And there can be some more advanced statistics reports.

How were you thinking of integrating this into the GUI? just a page filled with counters? integrate it into the graph window( F10)?

Many users will probably like to be able to enable/disable this feature for privacy reasons. Therefore, the data collection for single files should be implemented with the privacy concerns of all users in mind. However, the total amount of downloaded and the total amount of uploaded bytes should be stored in any way, as this is an important piece of information.
