Kad question

In the past I have been fine with not having Kad as it generally only affected the speed I found sources not whether I did. But recently... I hope it is just something at my end but it seems that the servers are having some problems. It is not a serious problem right now, but I am concerned that by the time of next stable release we might actually need to have kad support. Not necessary enabled by default, but available.

What is different from previous server problems is that most ED2K users no longer care about server support since they do not need it. So every time a server goes down the number of kad only clients goes up. And it is no longer a given that another server will replace the downed one.

I hope I am being alarmist here but...

1. Do others share my concerns? Why or why not?
2. What is the current situation with kad support? How much work would it require to make it functional if that became necessary? Are there reasons not to support it (as on option in debug builds)?

Any updates on this? I found that a lot of the files I download on eMule are from Kad, so if Shareaza would implement Kad, I would definitely try it out. Ed2k servers are dying due to legal risks, decentralized system like Kad is the way to go.
