Topic Split From Checking scheduler settings in capability tests
-----------------------------------EDIT------------------------------------------

I would like to suggest an improvement to the date selection.
I would like to see it like this:
Image
where all the irrelevant fields are greyed out(disabled). In other words...
when days is selected then Monday January 15 2010 is greyed out
when weeks is selected then January 15 2010 is greyed out
when months is selected then Monday January 2010 is greyed out
when years is selected then 2010 is greyed out
when once is selected then Monday is greyed out and they can use the calendar button to fill in the date fields

this allows for a much more flexible schedule and requires much fewer rules to be created

I think would be good during creating new sheduller to make it open or modular, so allow if sb would like to add another parameter or activity to change in time upon sheduler plan. I don't know what, but perhaps taking such a possibility under consideration will make future addition easier or possible at all.

It would probably make the most sense if the description for the filter was moved to the top as well

@siavoshkc: are you up to the challenge?

Sorry for delay. My internet was down.
I intended to begin with simple tasks but I will look into it after my exams.

I noticed that the dialog box was exceptionally large and very disorganized so I created a new-and-improved full mock-up. Conditional greying out as outlined above still applies, but now affects all items in scroll area. See below:

It would be about 30% wider but 1/3 the height

Looks neat, seems like more of Schedule Rule dialog than a Schedule Settings dialog.

The difference is now you set one rule at a time, your mock up demonstrates setting a more holistic rule involving different dates and times within each day.

You are doing months? Months have variable lengths so how will you handle setting an event to occur on the 30th day of the month for instance when there are only 28 total days in the month?

I was thinking about this again and maybe it is best to keep it simple. This version uses a "save and clone" button which saves the current rule, closes it and opens another rule with the same settings. This makes it easier to create many similar rules without having to enter the same info repeatedly. I figure since we now have an entire scheduler window to work with it is not a big deal to have 10 or more tasks. This design also gives greater flexibility with regards to which networks are used.

next revision!

This revision features a drop down selection box for the networks section with the options "Connect Network(s)", "Disconnect Network(s)", "Use Exclusively", "Do Not Change". Also removed the "throttle independently" option since it is not required. These 2 changes balance the "action" section of the dialog better and allows for greater flexibility when creating rules.

Seems pretty good advanced :)
Mabye it could be wise to rendar a graphic from the rules to give visual output about the planning...?
