2.7.5.0 Upgrade Issue on Windows XP

Postby Cerian Knight » 17 Jul 2014 10:14

[UPDATE]Debug build r9455 seems to have solved the issue... tried reinstalling release build, same issue. Using r9455 now, seems good.

During install and when trying to launch 2.7.5.0 32-bit on Win XP Pro SP3 (Dell Precision 670 Dual CPU Intel Xeon), I get the error:
Shareaza.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc06d007e)
Click on OK to terminate the application

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling it and the VC 2013 Redist (downloaded from Microsoft) manually.

I've removed 2.7.5.0, re-installed 2.7.4.0 32-bit, and all is well again... except when 2.7.5.0 was download automatically to my library, it looks like it erased the copy of 2.7.4.0 from the library. Please don't do that (at least until the new version is running).

Any ideas?

Shareaza 2.7.5.0 application error

Postby awdrifter2 » 17 Jul 2014 11:12

I tried to upgrade to 2.7.5.0, after the installation when I tried to start the program it gives the error "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc06d007e). Click on OK to terminate the application. Even after downgrading back to 2.7.4.0 didn't fix the issue. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next update.

Looks like some files has incorrect version or was damaged. I suggest a clean re-install i.e. remove all .exe and .dll files from "...\Program Files\Shareaza" folder manually then re-install desired version (make sure you downloaded it from here).

UPD: Also this issue can be due some unexpected Windows XP incompatibility. I'm working on it.

UPD: I added issue to MiniUPnPc project and fixed this in Shareaza.

UPD: Fixed daily build ready, you can use it till next Shareaza release.

Ryo, maybe you should update the build of the latest version available on our website, since it hasn't been long since the new version is out. That way we can avoid inconveniences for those users from the start. ;)

Since we have no road-map we can release new versions at anytime.

Well then, how about an official 2.7.5.1? ;)
Maybe we could even add a small line of text below the download link stating it is a WinXP bugfix only.

(I think three revisions don't merit a change to 2.7.6.0 and we could then continue with 2.7.5.2 for the alpha builds.)

EDIT: I'll do some work on a change log now. Once it has been finished, I'll upload it to the wiki and post the link here.

The 2.7.5.1 Alpha version seems to have fixed it. I can run the program without error now. Thanks.

Just to inform:
Raza crashed after running 2.7.6.0 all night and then starting PotPlayer 1.5.35491 beta to play an mpeg. Perhaps PotPlayer might have locked MFC120u.dll 12.0.21005.1? I need to upgrade PotPlayer anyway, so off I go to find the English version.

I'm still using 2.7.5.0 Alpha, but the versions after 2.7.4.0 seems to have serious issues. I have one torrent that says it's 100% complete, but it's stuck in verifying. I have another file that says it's 100% done but it's the status is "File Error".

I'm not sure if this is still relevant to current versions of Shareaza, but I've only seen 'File Error' when the free disk space is smaller than the current file operation requires. I always try to keep at least 10GB free space to avoid issues.

Please read the tooltip and/or system log for exact reason of file error.

When I click the Help in the menu it says "The Disk is Full". However I have more than 10gb of space left. I don't know where the log is so I can't check that.

I guess it could be a bad torrent, I will try it with another torrent client.

Just move mouse cursor over problem download, tooltip window will be shown and you'll see a additional error message in it (in the middle, after hashes).

In addition, consider error checking the drive and confirm that the file system is NTFS (not FAT32, although I would expect up to 4GB files to work in that case).
