TVUnderground banned my ISP!

Postby Lanigiro » 12 Dec 2019 14:14

I woke up this morning to find myself no longer connected to the TVUnderground ed2k server, and unable to reconnect. Changing my IP didn't help -- I get an immediate "connection refused", which means the TVUnderground ed2k server has been modified to immediately reject all connection attempts from the entire IP range used by my ISP.

In short, they've banned my ISP.

How do I either circumvent this ban or force them to make it narrower? I'm not the guilty party -- I was asleep when whatever it was happened that prompted the ban. A different customer of my ISP must have pissed them off. So there is no moral issue with me evading this ban, as it isn't intended for me in the first place. I'm collateral damage.

So: how do I do it? Without spending money I don't have on some expensive VPN service?

And how do I prevent this from ever happening again? Since I can't police every other user on my ISP (it's a large national provider with literally millions of customers) the solution must instead be to police TVUnderground, a single party, and force them to use narrower bans instead of blanket-banning entire ISPs. How do I do this? I have no contact information for them, and no obvious means of leverage.

Be sure what you are doing.

Open HostCache(F8) - Delete all donkeys - download fresh list with rightclick

The donkey has some problems.
emule-security seems to be a good choice

The busiest eMule Security server has about half the users -- around 25000 vs. TVUnderground's 50k. So I'll have the widest variety of files/sources (same from regular sources and widest from push/lowID sources) when connected to that one. Which is why I prefer that one and have done for years. (I preferred eMule Security once, but back then one of them was the busiest ed2k server, before TVUnderground grew larger than it.)
