First ... Like I said, when I try to open the files, they try to open in PSP animation shop, which of course will not work .. If I right click on them and then go to ... open with ... and then choose WMP it will open in WMP ... but I never had to do that before, they always opend in WMP

Second ... I am using Windows XP. How would PSP just up and change my default programs? If I knew, I could make sure not to do what I am not sure I even did to change it ... lol ... and if I knew how to change it back, I would not have had to come in and ask. Not being a smarta**, just saying that I have no idea how to fix this, that is why I came in here to ask and if someone here knows how to do it and explain to me how, I would really appreciate it, because it is a little pain to right click files and then go to choose what I want to open it ...I like simple ... lol ... I do mostly workout videos on here, faster then loading dvds and then trying to forward past all the intro stuff, etc, I can just click the play bar to wherever I want to go

Thanks again for any more help anyone can give me

this does not sound to me like it is caused by shareaza, but I may have your solution. right-click the file, choose open with > choose program. there should be a checkbox near the bottom of the popup window labeled "always use the selected program to open this type of file". select WMP in the list, check the box, and click ok.

I also think this is not Shareaza fault, but that "default" program "overactivity" in changing associations.
Or perhaps a malware doing the same, to make user/s life harder. .

Yes Cyko, I had done that before, in my shareazz d/l foler in My Docs and they all changed back to WMP .... But in the Shareaza d/l window here, they are still showing as PSP format ... or at least the icon in front of the d/l's has that icon on it yet. Not sure if that makes any difference or not

As fo malware, I do not think that is an issue... I just got done doing a complete restore on my computer like 2 days before that and had just d/l shareaza again . The first day it was showing WMP icons and the next day I came in, it was switched to the Paint Shop Pro icons. But like I said, I got them changed back in My Docs folder but not sure how to do it here ...

But note please: Shareaza does not change associations, this mean sth else is guilty for this. Use good antyvirus. You have restored system so perhaps you had problems about this. But restoration don't have to remove reason of infection. infected file. So this infection can happen again. You need to remove the reason. Perhaps this is small malware code in a WMP file.
