Help.

Postby jamieprinciple » 03 Jun 2011 08:37

Hi guys, hope someone can help me with this. Had the issue with g2 so following advice on here I installed the latest debug build (29/5). This fixed the g2 issue which is great, however the media player volume doesn't seem to work with the new version (I have sound but can only adjust the volume using windows volume rather than the shareaza media player). Anyone else had this problem or know how top fix it? Thanks in adavance...

A new version has been released, so you can use it instead of the debug builds: http://shareaza.sourceforge.net/?id=download

(BTW, this also speeds up the connection process a bit as there has been a little fix on that code just the day the new version has been released.)

As for your volume problem, would you mind testing this with several files of different types (audio/video, different file endings and/or different encodings)? If it is the same for all of them (and plz provide a list of file endings you have tested to have the bug), just leave a message here and/or create a bug report on our tracker.

Thanks for the response OD. I'm using the new version, as far as file endings, forgive my ignorance but I'm not sure what you mean, however I've tested a wide range of files (movie/music) and have the same result with all of them, ie cannot adjust volume from the shareaza media player. I end up having to use the voulume on the toolbar at the bottom right. It could be worth noting that there is also a problem in the sense that I also can no longer hold down the slider bar on a file by holding down the left mouse key on it to slide a track to half way through for arguments sake, I have to hold the mouse cursor over what is about the half way mark and click to get a track to move to the halfway point now. Weird. I've checked realplayer/vlc media player/windows media player and none of these issues are present, just on shareaza media player!

In addition to this, on the new version my connection to g1/g2 happens instantly, which is good, however downloads seem to hang for hours/overnight without ever starting to download/or downloading pitifully slowly, despite plenty of sources. I've checked the shareaza connection test which says there are no problems, I'm using a bt homehub (up to 8mb), and having performed a speed test the figures are fine, have also updated shareaza's download/upload speeds to match the results of the speed test and made sure my firewall/security allows shareaza, they do. Any ideas on what this issue could be?

Thanks in advance for your time/support.

As for your problems with the media player, would you mind adding a new ticket to our bug tracker? What you've reported is not yet present within our bug tracking system so far and creating a ticket on the tracker with a clean description for our devs on how and where to reproduce it will make it be fixed much quicker...

As for your downloading problems... Could you tell me what kind of sources those are? G2/gnutella ones or eDonkey ones? Because if these sources are eD2k ones, having only slow download progress is unfortunately quite normal...

^ Will do, whatever helps. As far as sources, they're gnutella g1/g2. I never connect to Edonkey. I use windows vista with windows 7. To describe the issue further, downloads start fast, but it seems with the new version of shareaza that if I'm not there constantly encouraging the files by clicking them and forcing them to find more sources, they slow and eventually drop sources/stop. I used to leave the old shareaza running over night with good results, however for some reason with this version by the morning comes dowloads have dramatically slowed/stopped.

You might be able to answer another question I have, as I said I run a bt homehub1, I've port forwarded it correctly for shareaza and connection tests run on sharaza indicate everything is fine, however in shareaza settings under connection theres a box to select for 'Enable UPnP connection devices setup', at the moment this is unchecked, I were to select/check it would this improve performance? Should this box be checked?

As always, thanks in advance for your time and help :)
