Touble getting shareaza to connect correctly (eDonkey LowID)

Postby scooter77 » 10 Oct 2011 10:58

I wonder if anyone can help, I'm really having trouble with shareaza connecting correctly.
I recently purchased a new router and I think that's where the trouble lies. G1, G2 & eDonkey connect OK but I always get I LowID warning and when I run the connection test I get the following message

"Results
TCP: The TCP connection has timed out. This can be due to a stealth firewall or router that has not been configured properly for Shareaza.
UDP: No answer has been received from your client. This can have various reasons, like that your firewall or router isn't properly configured for Shareaza, or Shareaza is not running on this port, or not connecting to the networks.
At least one problem has been detected and you probably have to configure your firewall or router for Shareaza. If you need help with configuring your firewall or router, visit this page on the wiki: FAQ: Routers/Firewalls. Or search on the wiki"

Now I never had this problem with my old router so i guess the problem is the new one, I think I've set it up correctly but I guess not, I don't think its my pc but I'm not sure... Any help much appreciated...

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (Service pack 1)
My router is a Netgear DGND3300(b)v2 N300 Wireless Dual Band ADSL2+ Modem Router

are you doing the port forwarding with UPNP or manually. With a new router you may want to use UPNP since it does not leave the ports open when they are not in use, but you may need to enable this setting on the router.

Well when I went from normal dsl to uverse cable/fiber connection they included a router, 2wire, which gave me wireless connections in addition to the wired connection. Also another firewall which I have to go into and open ports for the different programs that would require it, like shareaza, emule, utorrent. I would look at the manual for the router you have and see if it has a firewall. If so, you'll have to figure out how to access it and open the necessary ports.
