Hundreds of neighbours crashing Shareaza

Postby mendip » 19 Aug 2012 12:09

Wondering if any one can help, reinstalled Shareaza latest version and finally got it to pass the connection tests. It says everything should work fine, and for a few days it has done.
However it has now started connecting to hundreds of G2 neighbours then crashing. At first I thought that would be great, more sources to download from. But now it either crashes outright or I get not enough memory errors.
Is there any way you can limit the number of neighbours that are connected to. It normally connects to 4 or 5 G1 neighbours and 1 Edonkey.

Are you using the 64-bit version, by any chance?

Go to Settings => Gnutella and set mode to 'Leaf'.

I am using the 64 bit version on Win 7 64 Ultimate.
Shall try switching to leaf and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the replies.

There's a bug in the 64-bit version that doesn't occur on the 32-bit version. What's happening is that your client is switching to Hub Mode automatically because of the "Optimal" setting being the default which is normal. However, something about the flurry of connections triggers a crash specific to the 64-bit version. I've experienced this crash before but I thought it was because I had 2000+ security rules... Hmmmm...

Well, one way to solve it is to explicitly set it to "Leaf Mode" as previously stated or you can use one of the 32-bit binaries instead.
