Need Help with connections

I recently had to re-download Shareaza and now I am having all sorts of trouble connecting to download. I am running Windows 7 and have the computer directly hooked into the modem. I also run Norton 2012 and have set up Shareaza to be allowed on my firewall. I am now showing only connected to edonkey and have a lowid which I never had before. I am somewhat computer literate however somewhat illiterate. Please help me.

I would always recommend temporarily switching off whatever security you are using when you are having problems with network software.

...then probably I would recommend getting anything better than Norton
Norton is average at best, do not waste money on it.
