running shareaza on closed ports

how do i connect to networks when i have closed ports, i'm using a usb modem and the ports can not be open.

Should connect without problems, but your dl speeds can be slow.

Does your USB modem have UPnP? If it does, Shareaza might be able to open the ports it needs by himself...

Modem ports can be opened? I thought they can only be opened in a router (unless the modem has a firewall included).

If the port is closed it must be behind either a router or a firewall. Sometimes that is integrated to the modem, sometimes the router is run by the ISP (to conserve address space or do network management). In either case UPnP may or may not be supported. The important thing is that UPnP is much more likely to be supported than manual configuration by user. So worth a try.

under Tools > Shareaza Settings > Internet > Connection change the setting "can accept incoming connections" to no
