Is there a way to ban whole countries ?

Those communists seem to give many bogus results.

Thanx.

No, there isn't, however once my new security filter code gets included in Shareaza, there will be one way to do so.

you could use the country IP range generator(CIPRG) that will generate security filters to block any country, but it could slow down shareaza significantly and is not recommended. Believe it or not, there are legitimate shareaza peers in china, and blocking them will limit the number of sources for your downloads and in doing so restrict your download speeds.

That's good to know :)

Maybe one day it gets integrated in shareaza ( it already identifies countries most of the time ).

Those "bogus" results are they with files bigger than 4 GB ?

I had this feelings too until I realised that they wandet to connect to download above the 4 GB.
Mostly chinees with Emule.

I would also like a button where I could ban a country for the duration of a session.

As it is, I'm spending too much time playing whack-a-mole with the troublemakers.

I will say in the latest version the G2 connections are now rocking. My only real beef with Shareaza today is the search engine. It's giving way too many results that have nothing to do with the query. The old one was great.

But I do think you're getting closer to building the perfect beast. :)

use a ipfilter like peerguardian. then go to i-block list at http://iblocklist.com/index.php. There you will find lists that you can load using peerguardian, like for china.

Well I downloaded the IP block lists for CN, HK and TW and used Excel to transform these into an importable Security XML file.

But when I imported them it made no difference to whether Shareaza tried to connect to these hubs - until I stopped and restarted Shareaza and then it seems to work just fine!!!

So in case anyone else would like to import the block list, here they are (IP ranges as of a few days ago).
