No Gnutella uploads but download works ok

Hi,
First let me say that I've been using Shareaza for quite some time now, and I think it's the best P2P program I've used to date.
I've got a strange problem now though. While I can download just fine, the only uploads I see are just a small handful of eMule users... there are no G1 or G2 user connecting to me to download. This is in sharp contrast to the "tons" of people I've seen in the queue before.
I'm running Shareaza 2.5.5.0, on WinXP, I've applied the TCP/IP patch and have forwarded ports properly - Shareaza does not tell me that I'm firewalled.
So what's going on? Is Verizon messing with the traffic? I'm on FIOS and believe that's when I started having this problem. It appears that I've gotten around the crappy Actiontec router's tiny state table by DMZ'ing a pfSense firewall and using that to do all the filtering and NAT-forwarding. When I took a look at the traffic with Wireshark to see if they were playing games like sending RST packets after a connection was opened, I saw that there was very little traffic coming in on the Shareaza port.
One of the things that leads me to suspect that Verizon is messing with the traffic is the fact that when I configure Shareaza to use the default port of 6346 and pfSense to forward it, Shareaza tells me that I'm firewalled. If I pick another port like 6246 or 6446, I don't get that warning. With that in mind, I'm thinking that encryption is going to be the final answer for P2P apps and I'd love to see that on Shareaza.
Are there any specific Shareaza settings I should be looking at? I've sort of skimmed over them and they generally look ok to me, although I don't know the details of the protocol and so don't truly understand many of the more advanced settings.
Thanks!
- Phil
