GUI-start slows enormous after often restart

Postby queueclimber » 19 Nov 2012 20:25

When doing a clean install, the GUI starts very well.
But after two weeks, restarting 20 times :
it takes a quarter hour before the GUI is starting.

The processor is up to 50 % ( Which means 100% on a singlecore).
What does the starting process do ?
Is it rehashing all my downloads ?

What does the splashscreen say it is doing for a long time?

Did you leave any searches or libraries of other users open? This will increase the startup time drastically.

No. I'm single Adminstrator.
But at setupwizard Multi-User is enabled.

ailurophobe: When updating, I always do a clean install.
At the moment the GUI starts normal.
But there was nothing to notice, except the indicator wanders VERY SLOW
reaching about 60 % and the hard drive lamp shines constantly.

No, I think you misunderstood. Were there Search or Browse Library tabs open within your Shareaza?

Oops.
Yes, seach tabs are surely open.
Browsing other Users, maybe.
When the problem next time appears, I ensure that they are closed.

Because of having that d*mned rehashing error, doing a debug build rev.9255 with some breakpoints.
Not that it is a feature often used, in case normally never used, except very rarelly sometimes.
Sh*t. GUI has not opened after 2 hours awaiting.
There are 5 searches open and 10 browsed users. ( approximated )
How to close these {windows}/[tabs] before starting the GUI ?

Or in other words:
How to close, when Shaeaza is NOT running ?

Delete the searches.dat (etc.) files within your user data folder. That should do the trick. ;)

ROFL, searches.dat was removed since around 2.3.0.0/2.4.0.0
What old_version do you use ? ( a joke )

Wasn't aware that the name had changed. But no matter the name, there is a file somewhere that does the same job as the previous searches.dat file. If you delete it, all previously opened searches will be closed on startup.

If you do close Shareaza while one or more searches are still opened, these searches will be available after Shareaza is restarted. So they must be stored somewhere.
