Shareaza causes high network load after new IP

When i get a new IP, shareaza causes high load on network. I think Shareaza switches to Hub mode when i get a new IP. I restart shareaza ATM.

Do you pass the connection test?

How many connections does your Shareaza make? Are you sure it acts as a Hub?

I doubt it is acting as a hub, since one of the requirements for a hub is that it has been connected for a certain amount of time. If it is acting as a hub upon reconnecting you can force it not to by going to tools > shareaza settings > gnutella and change the mode from "optimal" to "leaf"

Hey,

when this happened i put a little investigation efforts, and i saw this:
* shareaza uses bandwidth up to its configured limits (40 kBps UP ATM)
* Full upload without having active file uploads (file uploads are not cause of bw usage)
* I have statistics for packet throughput running, packet throuhput goes up to like ~500 packets per second for up+down (total 500 pps)
** 500 pps stays at about a constant rate

This happened when shareaza was already running for quite a while, like 6 hours. When after this time a new IP was assigned, i got this behavior.

Thanks for ur time guys!

Hi there, I've been a very satisfied Shareaza user for many years. Ans still am. But since a couple of weeks I have a similar problem as alvato.
It began when I had to configure a static IP for my PC to connect my recently bought Xtreamer media player to my home network. Shareaza was working just fine, up untill then, even (as I discovered while setting ip a static IP) when poort forwarding wasn't set-up right. Well, after creating a static IP I have fixed the poort forwarding and damn, Shareaza started to make connections at a speed of light! But...when it's operational my whole bandwith collapses. And I mean, Firefox can't load any site normally, it takes ages. MSN is loosing connection. Even my digital tv keeps freezing every 30 seconds, which is highly odd. Speedtest.net spits out a lousy 4500kbps, while my line is max 20000. Of course it's ADSL so real speed is around 10000kbps but still...As soon as I shut down Shareaza - all back to normal. The funny thing is, while it totally clogs my bandwith the download speed is also drastically reduced! I 've tried changing static IP's, went back to dynamic IP, played with different poorts, reconfigured poort forwarding, changed Optimal mode to Leaf as suggested here. Nothing seems to help(

Here is some information that might be useful:
- OS Vista Ultimate
- Shareaza 2.5.1.0
- I passed the connection test (http://jlh.no-ip.org/connectiontest/ind ... st=1&lto=1) with flying colours
- my upload speed is set-up to 70% of my max
- router is Davolink dv-2020
- I have a pc, Xtreamer and digital TV hanging on my router.

Any advice would be highly appreciated. And also, is there a way to reset Shareaza to default settings?

Thanx in advance for your help.

Could you check in the neighbours window (Ctrl + F11) how much G2 connections Shareaza is making? If there are more than 20 of them, you are probably running as a Hub and reducing the amount of Leaves to connect to will certainly help. This setting can be found on the Gnutella settings page. Simply change the amount of leaves to connect to under Shareaza Settings >> Networks >> Gnutella >> Hub to Leaf. If you set this setting to 150 instead of 300, this should solve your problem. ;) If it doesn't, set it to 100, and if this doesn't help, disable Hub mode by switching the drop down option to Leaf (instead of Optimal).
Note that you should wait at least half an hour before the respective setting really takes effect, respectively when you disable Hub mode (the drop down option) it is necessary to restart Shareaza.

Note that my suggestions will only help if you are really running in Hub mode, if you aren't, you won't see any effects.

In order to reset Shareaza to its defaults, you can try to uninstall it completely and install it again... Maybe this makes the difference...
