Shareaza

I was running Shareaza debug build 2.6. Got a notice that 2.7 was available. So I downloaded and uninstalled the debug build before installation the new one. After installation, the new version would not load. Uninstalled that and reinstalled the debug build. Now that one doesn't load either. I'm at a loss. If anyone has any ideas on how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate with all updates done and Norton with an exception loaded for Shareaza.

Does any error dialogs shown on the screen?

No errors show. It doesn't even show splash screen. Like its not installed or not seeing the program. Wondering if it an issue with the Visual C+ that it "updates" during the install? All other programs on my system are working fine.

I doubt it's a Visual C++ DLL issue, since old debug build can't run also... But to confirm that you can install those DLLs manually: for 32-bit and for 64-bit Shareazas.

Ok. Tried that. Didn't help. Love to get this fixed. Have used Shareaza for years. When I click on the shareaza desktop icon, I get the little circle loading thing for about 5 seconds and then it disappears. Not listed in running programs either.

Ok. I downloaded an uninstaller from the web and did an advanced uninstall to completely remove shareaza. After that I went and deleted the program file for shareaza. Reinstalled the build I had previously as administrator and it worked. Tried to update with the 2.7 and had the same problem again so I repeated steps and its running with the 2.6. Not sure what is causing the problem but will check back to see if there are any updates.

Yes. I did try that in order to get 2.7 to work. Still did solve the problem. I do have an older pc that I have upgraded components. Thinking maybe it could just be getting really glitchy. As long as I can use the 2.6 I'm good. will still try to see if I can come up with anything as to why the 2.7 won't run. If I find anything relevant, I will definitely post it.

I did have to do a reinstall of my os cuz getting some other issues going on. So installed 2.7 still not working. And this install was on a clean system. So not sure what is going on with it. Reinstalled the debug version 2.6. All works fine with that.

Can you use utility "Dependency Walker" (depends.exe) from Visual Studio, run Shareaza 2.7 using it and sending its log to me?

I attached the log file in pdf form. Hope I did it correctly. If you get any results from that let me know. Would really love to get the new build up and running on this system.

Yes it is an old cpu. Can run 2.6 unless there is a fix.

This can't be fixed. It's because of how it is compiled.
You will need a version without sse2, and don't know if Development find time for that.
Maybe it can be fixed, but did you ever thought about do your Version from code.
You can excactly adjust to your old processor. Do you use Vista or XP ?
It's really easy.
OK, you have to download 3 or 4 programs and adjust 2 settings.
And you can always ask.

If someone could walk me through it I'm willing to try. But for now 2.6 debug build is working fine. Thanks for input.
