Help->Connection Test webpage reports "Server not found"
Posted: 06 Jan 2014 20:59
Hello,
Summary:
When doing a connection test using Shareaza using the menu Help -> Connection Test, the test attempts to use a host name that my three DNS Servers report does not exist.
The host name is: test.atomo64.puffinhost.com
The DNS Servers used are:
* 75.75.75.75
* 75.75.76.76
* 209.244.0.3
Thus the connect test never starts, as the webpage does not exist given the host does not exist.
NOTE: Multiple attempts to use connection test results in Shareaza using each time the same host name.
NOTE: Manually pointing to a server (found using Google) reports everything is OK on port 6346. Yet, the menu system should work, shouldn't it?
- - - - - - - - - - RELATED ISSUE - - - - - - - - - -
There is a related issue concerning the "Shareaza Setting." The Internet -> Connection -> Inbound Address -> Port and Random will NOT properly reflect their Windows Registry values. When this occurs the connection test uses the host name: test.atomo64.puffinhost.com . In other words, a person will set the inbound port to 6346 (base 10) and successfully change this new value to the Windows registry. Yet, at some point (e.g. after a Windows reboot or such), when Shareaza start up the settings IGNORE the Windows registry value and instead goes back to the default random (0 base 10).
BUT once Shareaza is up and running *and* a person manually configures Shareaza to use port 6346 (base 10) instead of random, the connection test instead uses the host name: shareaza.sourceforge.net (which then resolves to: jlh.no-ip.org). For example: Before manually correcting the inbound port, the URL for the connection test that fails is: http://test.atomo64.puffinhost.com/?port=18880&lang=en&Version=2.7.1.0&test=1
YET, after manually changing the inbound port to 6346 (base 10), the connection URL changes to: http://shareaza.sourceforge.net/connectiontest/?port=6346&lang=en&Version=2.7.1.0&test=1 this URL resolves to: http://jlh.no-ip.org/connectiontest/?port=6346&lang=en&Version=2.7.1.0&test=1
.
Details:
Version: Shareaza 2.7.1.0 Release 64-bit (r93338 20131124)
NOTE: Problem also seen on 2.6.0.0. Release 64-bit (?)

Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 : Service Pack 1 (Windows Update reports all updates successfully applied as of Monday, January 6, 2014 at 13:20 CST).
Browsers: Firefox 19.0b and MS-IE 11.0.9600.16576 Update Version 11.0.2 (KB298785)
Host name verified using: Browsers (Firefox and MS-IE), Tracert, ping, and nslookup all commands failed to find the host name. Additionally, used other ISP (Sprint 4G LTE) with the same results using Android 4.3 and the included browser; as well as the PIng & DNS application.
