downloads are way too slow...why?

Hi

I cant understand why my downloads are so slow. I have DSL connection but my downloads are slower than a modems. As far as I know I configured Shareaza correctly but there seems to be something wrong.

On another note, is there any way to add more neighbours? the most I can connect to is 9

cheers

Make connection test (located in help menu of Shareaza) and if result will be negative you have wrong firewa and/or router and/or portforward settings. If positive you should adjust shareaza settings. Download and read "Shareaza Instalation Guide" by OldDeath there it is described step by step.

Ok, ive have the latest Shareaza version (2.5.0.0) yet the download speeds are just ridiculous and Im getting increasingly frustrated. My downloads have gotten so bad now, that Im lucky to even have a file download more than 1kb's and I have DSL!

I can have up to 10 dowloads or more going, yet not 1 will download more than 1 kb.

A few months ago everything was fine (well I was using CruxP2P, but is the same thing) and I was able to dowload at or close to my max download limit, but now it has just become almost unbearable to continue, so I will have one last ditch effort to reslove this problem or just unistall Sharaza and use another program.

I now have dozens of incomplete files that now look like they will never be completed because of these ridiculous DL speeds.

Ive gone through the Wiki help, my modem and firewall are configured correctly, I pass the connection test, so I am out of ideas.

PLEASE some one help

Have you done the connection test? What is the result for you?

(Can be accessed via Help>>"Connection test" from within Shareaza)

this seems to have helped a little, but one thing im finding is that a download can start off at a good speed and in a minute or 2 drop down to a really slow speed, even though nothing has changed. For example I can start off downlading a file at around 15Kbs and in a few moments it drops down to about 2kbs. What could cause this and how can it be fixed?

thanks.

I am having this exact same issue, since upgrading to 2.5.0.0 this last week. This connection has been stable for over a year. This means A) Good Performance and B) the Connection test worked.

As of today, (A) the connection test works 100% and (B) my performance is .01Mb/sec for each stream. It won't go above .01Mb/sec for each stream.

QUESTION: Is there a way to downgrade to a previous version? If yes, how?

Perhaps you have set huge download bandwith and very little upload, some clients treat this as "bad behaviour" and this way "punish for selfish behaviour". This shows you can have bigger download, you just need to set Shareaza properly. Also very often on and off, connect and dissconnect to network can be a reason. Leave Shareaza to work for some longer time could help. Do you have HighID or LowID? And unfortunately also your ISP can automaticly limit your activity to save connection usage - call and ask, this is not fair of ISP, or aware blocking of p2p traffic. Also you can try to change port from standard 6346 to a diffferent one. Or change ISP. Keep trying, you are closer then before. Read "Shareaza Install Guide".

You can just install 2.4.0.0 but considering improvements in 2.5.0.0 I think this is senseless and not reasonable. I haven;t tried this so I don't know if/what problems can occure. You will have better result when set 2.5.0.0. Note that Shareaza is still in development so you can try 2.5.0.1 even, from page for debugs.

my max dl speed is 21kbs. I have downloads set to "MAX" and uploads set to 6Kbs. Is this no good? (sorry Im a noob) and I dont know what Low Id or High Id is. I dont think its my ISP, as I was downloading at a good rate only a month or so ago.

Do you have enough space on disk? How much? What are settings for number of downloads?
Download and read "Shareaza Install guide" via G2, there you have step by step how to install properly.
