deleting search topics- auto complete

Postby mamasa44 » 17 Nov 2009 02:15

when i have searched something, it is stored in the search box. for instance, if i have searched "kiss", later, when i type anything beginning with "k", Kiss shows up in a drop down box. how can i get rid of these stored searches? clear history does not clear them out.

i tried that, but it doesn't work either. i've clicked the clear button, highlighted the drop down and tried to right click, cleared auto complete, cleared search history, and everything in between. does anyone else have any suggestions? thanks!

Does it not go away at all or does it come back next time you start Shareaza?

That's annoying - no easy way to remove the search-autocomplete entries! ALL the entries are stored one by one in the registry. You may delete them (search.01, 02, etc.) and set the whole folder to "no access" for all useres, admins, etc. but I don't know the effect of this workaround on Shareaza - so do it at your own risk or just install the previous version...

If anyone knows or found an official switch in the advanced settings please tell here. What a smart idea to put a hard to remove autocomplete function in a filesharing software...

Use the bug reporting area in the DevWiki (link can be found on the main Wiki page).

I see - thank you. Nothing against autocomplete function for those who like it but there has to be an option/switch to stop it as well because there are some/many (whatever) who do not like it. ;)

You are welcome, just describe what is needed 1) precisely 2) clearly 3) shortly. You have a tool to present your idea and need. Just do it. and have hope devs will agree with your proposal 8)

the latest daily build should now have an advanced setting (thanks to raspopov) named "Interface.AutoComplete" that allows you to disable this feature. please test it out and give us your feedback

I'd prefer a small button or link with text like "Learn more..." that opens the wiki page for the advanced settings.

I am pretty sure the dialog has space for two extra words. And we need to improve the wiki anyway. Plus the advanced settings page in the wiki actually already has decent quality... at least in English. Having more people using it and asking for updates to it can't hurt. The opposite probably.
