I have recently downloaded several torrent files and they appear in the transfer page as question mark torrent icons. Anyone have any idea why this is? It seems that the same torrent downloaded from different sites have the same results. I'm using Shareaza 2.5.0.0 r8283 20091031

Torrents that contain more than one file are displayed as question mark icon. In order to see the files included, go to the advanced edit section of the download and have a look at the files tab.

Question marks can also be chracters from alphabet which is not currently present at yuoy computer, especially like non-latin: russian, chinese, korean, hebrew, tybetan etc. They can be added by adding services for more languages by system installer. It can help, of course if this is the case, but it will not translate file names, only allow to display them.

In my case I'm pretty sure these torrents are not foreign languages, its almost like the torrents themselves are corrupt or the source is not right or something. Also I just upgraded to version 2.5.0.0 from 2.3.0.0. When I upgraded most of my torrent downloads never appeared in my transfer page and I have been trying to recover those torrent transfers. Some of the torrents that showed up after the upgrade show as ?mark icons and some torrents downloaded from we known torrent sites appear as ?mark icons as we.

Does anyone know a good method of recovering previous torrent downloads?

Thanks :D

As there has been made a change to the way torrent downloads are saved, this should be difficult. Consider redownloading them...

There are possibilities however, but they will need a lot of work, so in most cases, lost torrents from an v2.3 to v2.5 update are more easily redownloaded than they are recovered. Also, as torrent downloads in v2.5 are much faster than in v2.3.x.x, this is supposed to take shorter than it would have taken previously.

After upgreade you still should have torrent file, and incomplete for torrent from 2.3.0.0 but not visible in download area of 2.5.0.0.
I would try to start download torrent again in 2.5.0.0, then when it will appear right click > advanced properties > actions > merge with local file and reverify - point with file selector incomplete from previous torrent download.
Because of changes it will be best IMHO way to get it back, there was problems with torrents. But it was as I know solved in one of latest debugs, so you could try to download debug, and use it. This could make torrent to reappear. However there is no guaranties of this.
