deleting unused files from the 'incomplete' folder

hello

I was wondering if there is any way to delete files that were left in the 'incomplete' folder after a torrent was deleted from the shareaza Transfers,
it seems that there are SD files and partial files there (at the incomplete folder) of torrents that are not being cultivated anymore and they clog up the harddisk,
is there any way to tell which are the partial and SD files which are parts of torrents which i am currently downloading in shareaza and eliminate the rest?

thanks a lot!

I generally just use the last modified date. You can also try matching the hash values, but I've never bothered.

This might be a viable solution.

I was "experimenting" the other day with the Incomplete Folder for a solution to the same issue after I noticed how much GB was being stored there and I knew it was more than the active downloads I presently had going on in Transfers.

Try this yourself to see if it works:
1-Open your Shareaza.
2-Delete ALL of the SD files in your Incomplete Folder and also those showing your Previews.
3-Shareaza will automatically replace the SD files for your active Transfers (the ones Shareaza is downloading at the present time).
4-Match your "new" SD files to the partial files.
5-Those NOT matching the newly created SD files can then be deleted.
6-I was left with ONLY active Transfers and their associated SD files.

Someone needs to try this as confirmation that it works since I only tried it that one time and I found it deleted those unused/inactive Transfer files that took up a lot of space without affecting the rest of the Transfers.

:)

We are happy we could be of assistance. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
EDIT: I've included the above tutorial to clean the Incompletes directory in a wiki page.

Not to sound critical as this is the information ive been looking for, for months now, but you have missed a crucial part to this working successfully. All files must be downloading or pending. Any files queued or paused will not have the SD file rewritten and will then lost when the program is shut down leaving missing downloads. Therefore you need to add a crucial stage to this by telling users to pause and unpause ALL downloads. This will then force the SD files to be written. Please update these instructions, and more importantly, the wiki, so users dont lose downloads. Thanks for the original advice though. I have successfully removed 26.2GB of irrelevant data from my hard drive which not only gives me more space but also has dramatically sped up my backups.

Actually with the implementation of 2.5 there aren't any bittorrent files left in the incomplete folder. With prior versions, if you check the clear completed torrents once it reaches the specified share ratio it will delete the partial file in the incomplete folder.
