Windows 7/Shareaza connection issues

Hello everyone,

Last night I updated from 32-bit XP SP3, to 64 bit Windows 7, and I'm having a little trouble with Shareaza.

For months and months it worked like a dream on XP, I would sporadically get the "You are firewalled" warning for some reason, but usually, closing and reopening the program or restarting my internet connection would clear it up. I did have the connection limit patch installed.

Now, I get the "You are firewalled" warning permanently, and even though I am connected to all networks, my client seems to only queue for ED2k sources, no matter how many GNU2's there are. The connection test told me that TCP timed out, and there was no response from my client for UDP.

I do have the windows firewall on, but Shareaza is allowed, and I had the windows firewall on back when it worked flawlessly on XP. I am part of a network, but my system is the one that directly accesses the internet, so being behind the network should not be an issue.

I'm not sure what sort of information you folks would need, so I'll leave it at that for now. I hope you can assist me in getting back to the warning free performance I had been enjoying.

Thanks for your time.

Additionally, I've tried some other services today. Before last night I was using Shareaza 2.4, after installing windows 7 I went to 2.5...I have tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions, as well as the most recent Alpha of the 64 bit version. I tried to revert back to 2.4, but with no change.

I cannot get ANY search results on Limewire even though it says I am fully connected.

I cannot connect to Bearshare AT ALL.

Does anyone have ANY clues?

Problem resolved, there was a secondary firewall setting in 7 that I had ignored as unimportant

To use real and legitimate Shareaza download it only from open source Shareaza project. All needed links are gathered here in LinkTank. Using V5, V6, etc... you are using malware installer which spy you. Beware of Fakeaza.

The man use real Shareaza. Ant there is only one man who is still using BearShare for Gnutella downloads - this is Aaron Walkhouse. Thats why Shareaza don\t show many BearShare hosts :)

Haha thanks for the replies/warnings folks, I was already well aware of the fate that befell Bearshare which is why I loaded up an old version, I was just downloading other clients to see if I could diagnose my connection problem, the lack of connection to BS (what an appropriate name now huh?) plus the lack of search results from Limewire made me examine my firewall settings again, so all is right with Shareaza now. I'm not sure if any of the actual developers/testers read these boards, but I would like to say I have been using shareaza since 2.3, and it is hands down the BEST P2P program I have ever used, kudos to everyone for the quality work you do, including all of you who take time out to help on the forums.
