Shareaza

Hi,

I've been using Shareaza for a long time but for some reason when I search for movies/videos the most results for the new movies are in French, Italian and Spanish. You can check the snapshots in attached files.

Anyone got a explanation for this.

By the way I'm in Portugal.

The reason for this is very simple: The Shareaza user community composes itself essentially from French users. You can have a look at the estimated composition of the network population on tis page: http://crawler.trillinux.org/countries.html But plz note that these are only the Hubs, so the computers that coordinate the network, so the actual network population may differ a bit from the information displayed at the crawler page.

You should also know that if more of your friends are using Shareaza, the amount of content in your language will raise, too. For example you can copy the magnet links (URIs) of the files you are downloading and send it via instant messenger (MSN, ICQ, ...) to your friends and they can download exactly the same files, which will raise the total download speed for that file if you manage to get 4 or 5 people with a relatively high amount of upload speed to download the same file(s) than you.

Well, it's in fact like this: The more people are using Shareaza, the faster the overall speed becomes and the more files are available. This is why if you and your friends are downloading exactly the same file, downloading this file will become faster as there are more people sharing their bandwidth for the download of this file.

As for the other aspect, if you and your friends are effectively releasing files in your own language, other users of the same language can find more files in your language and the community in your country starts growing. If the community in your country grows, more downloads become available in your country and therefore you will also profit from it. (at a long term).

Most of the videos add the languages in its filename (ie. movie[ita][sub fr]) Try also using the -fr -it modifier in the filter box at the bottom right of the search window.
