Can't get the REMOTE screen from other PCs in the network

I think I tried everything before posting this request for help.

I have installed (now for a couple of months) shareaza in my "test" PC, before installing it in the multimedia PC (MMPC).

Today I have in the MMPC bittorrent and emule both working with remote control with no problem. The target it to replace them with Shareaza allowing a unique bandwidth control, and adding remote http file download capabilities as well.

I have configured the router (wrt54gs) for separate port forwarding for MMPC and the TEST PC, having both PCs with Fixed internal IP addresses.

I use a standard installation of shareaza (port 6346) and had enabled the remote capabilities and opened the ports (not only in the router as mentioned before) but also in my firewall for both TCP and UDP.

If I do a remote command in the LOCAL PC 127.0.0.1:6346 IT WORKS and everything is OK.

The problem is that I was not able to replicate the remote login screen from any other PC in my home network by replacing the local host address by the fixed TEST PC IP (http://192.168.1.52:6346 or http://192.168.1.52:6346/remote/)

Can anyone help me on what I might be missing or messing up?

Thanks,

what version of shareaza are you using for testing? some older versions of shareaza had problems with remote access. Also, what browser (and what version of it) are you using to view the remote?

No idea, just curious: Does using the external IP address work.

Incidentally you did not mention if Shareaza connects to P2P networks and passes the connection test.

Guys,

First of all thanks for trying to help me with your suggestions and questios. My apologies for not answering before, but I was having problems accessing the forum and I updated and migrated my machine.

I am now using shareaza 2.5.2.0, the problem is still there.

Will try to be as specific as possible:

1) from same PC I type in FIREFOX http://127.0.0.1:6346/remote/ and I get the right management screen

2) from the same PC I type http://192.168.92.52:6346/remote and I get "The connection was reset"

3) from the same PC I use the EXTERNAL IP ADRESS and I get the same error

4) from another PC I try (2) and (3) and get the same error

5) of course from internet (another PC in another location) I try the external IP address and get the same error

I am really out of ideas, still using utorrent and emule when I need remote control (that in the same PC it works!)

Of course, SHAREAZA is downloading and uploading perfectly well and passed the TEST CONNECTION in the HELP menu.

Regards, :?:  :?:

127.0.0.1 is a local loopback address, so it will always point you to the computer you are on. It sounds to me like you have the wrong local IP address. Is this the same local IP address as the one given one the home screen of shareaza(try the link in shareaza to be sure)? ... then again you said you passed the connection test, so you should be able to access it using your external IP address :?

Smells like a firewall issue to me. It lets loopback traffic alone but blocks the remote admin protocol otherwise (but NOT the G2 protocol).

If you have 192.168.x.x in any firewall or Shareaza's security settings you will be blocked
even when you try an external address from inside your own net.

If all of your nodes are trying to use port 6346 then your router won't know which one you
want to connect to, so spread them out to different ports for each one and make sure your
router has a forwarding rule [in both TCP and UDP protocols] for each port on each computer.
If you had no forwarding rules and were depending on UPNP try configuring all the ports like this.
