New internet provider, now Shareaza doesn't work correctly

Hello all, I changed internet providers this week and suddenly Shareaza doesn't want to work correctly.

Apparently, my new provider has me behind a firewall, perhaps, that Shareaza can't get around? For example, if I do a search, and the keywords match something already in my library. sometimes my item won't show up at all in the list of found items. If it does show up, it has the red "X" mark meaning it is firewalled. It never used to do that before. My "home" screen doesn't seem to indicate that I'm behind a firewall.

I can't seem to download anything either. I've searched around and it looks like port-forwarding might be the answer but I'm still perplexed. Is it that simple.

I fail the connection test. The items in my library get "hits" but I never have an upload now.

My new IP is CenturyLink.

Thanks for any help folks can provide. Just want to get back to what I had before...

Yes, port forwarding should be the solution to go after... See our Wiki for more information. ;)
If you have troubles setting up port forwarding on your router/NAT, don't be shy to come back and ask your questions.

It doesn't appear to be the router -- does that make a difference ... I disconnected from my router and connected straight through to my modem and it still shows me behind a firewall when I do a search for items that I have in my library ... so that would suggest my IP is blocking things ... am i right? would port forwarding still work here? solutions? Thanks!

i should note that when I'm connected directly to the modem, the "enable upnp connection" box keeps unchecking itself ...

The new ISP give you a new modem? It may have its own router functionality. Turn it over to see what make and model it is and google it to find out how to put it in bridge mode, then port forward with your own router (which is between the modem and the computer).

We do have two computers at the house, so i think the router is a necessity ... it worked fine before with my old ISP ... thanks for the advice folks ... now, to find the time to actually put these ideas into practice! A different story this week unfortunately... i will report my findings when I tinker with stuff...
