No Downloads Win 7 64 bit

Hi All,

My old 32 bit XP Pro machine finally died, so I have upgraded to Win 7 64 bit on an Intel 64 bit quad core with 12gb RAM. I have re-installed Shareaza 2.5.2.0 (same as old machine) with all the old settings, port and McAfee firewall settings.

On the old machine I was getting up to 400kb downloads. Now I am lucky to get 400bytes. Uploads are still going as high as 100kb. And searches find almost nothing. Yet, all connections seem to work except that eDonkey now has a LowID where it was always a HighID on the old machine.

The Port test fails every time, but the home page doesn't indicate there is a problem at all.

I have tried everything I can think of, including running as Administrator. Nothing works!!!!!

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Alan

What is the result of the connection test if you have all security applications turned off while performing it? If it doesn't pass with all security applications switched off, you probably just got an other IP by your modem and your router/NAT therefore forwards the data to the wrong location...

Turning off McAfee doesn't help and my modem/router has firewall turned off permanently and the Windows firewall is turned off permanently. I still get a timeout error. In Shareaza options both inbound and outbound addresses are set to automatic. What should I set them to?

Also,

I have noticed that my computer's IP address is set to automatic. Could this be the issue?

My router is the exact same one I used on my old computer which ran Shareaza perfectly and the router settings have not been changed. Realistically the only change is that I now have Win 7 64 bit and now have an automatic IP for my computer instead of a static IP. Also on Win 7 I can't find a Run command in the Start menu like there was under XP. How do I access the cmd line now?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the help with the RUN Cmd. That worked fine.

I have tried the IP address for my router and the preferred IP for my computer. Neither works.

I have set my TCPIP IP address to manual and set the DNS server to be my router IP address. Then I set the inbound and outbound ports in Shareaza to be my computer's IP address. McAfee has my Shareaza port enabled as trusted and is forwarding it. McAfee also allows full access ro Shareaza.exe. I can't think of anthing else to do. A connection test still fails. Given that everything is set exactly the same as my old computer now I can only assume that the problem has something to with Win 7 64 bit. Any suggestions as to what peer to peer works with Win 7 64bit??????? I give up.

The old computer is DEAD and in the garbage bin (Sorry the garbo has already picked it up - it's at the tip now - RIP). The new computer replaces it.

In McAfee you can't specify the IP to port forward to. It just has a tick box to allow port forwarding for the port. This is exactly how it was on the old computer so I can't see how the new computer could require any extra settings.

Thanks heaps for your help.

THAT DID IT!!!!!!!!

I had got the Port wrong and the router was forwarding the wrong port. That's me though. If I don't do something two days in a row I forget it. I hjad to do a bit of research on my router, but I now have it working like new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's FANTASTIC!!!!! Speeds that exceed :D

Thanks so much for your help. Sorry I was sooooooo dopey.

Alan

P.S. May the blue bird of happiness fly up your nose :P
