Please help... Anyone?

Ever since upgrading to Shareaza 2.5.3.0 I have a problem in the sense that when I play video files back through the media player the picture seems to be restricted to a four inch square size as a maximum, ie despite the fact that I can still drag the media player box out to fill more of the screen, the actual section of the screen used to playback the video is tiny no mater what. Anyone else got this issue, what can I do to get video files to play back at full size again?

In addition to this I foolishly downloaded a 'debugged' version of sharaza from the sourceforge website believing this might fix the problem, I now get a message when starting shareaza that warns me I'm using an " ALPHA TEST version of shareaza" and says I may loose downloads or suffer instability, tried reinstalling the original version but still get this message, any ideas?

Thanks in advance people :)

I don't know about your video playback problem. But the file from sourceforge you installed was a debug version.. It's the latest build of shareaza posted for testing new code. Usually they are pretty stable and safe enough to use. If you tried installing the release version of shareaza back over the debug version and it didn't work you may need to do a clean install of shareaza to fix this. I'd recommend backing up your incomplete folder first.

You can also just ignore the alpha warning and install the newest debug. Like loopyloo said, it is usually safe, sometimes the debug has weird bugs and problems (which is why users need to be warned), but major problems usually get fixed pretty fast, so it is just a question of waiting for a newer debug version that fixes it or downgrading back to debug version that did not have the problem. So the stability is not really that much worse, it just takes more work from the user.

For the media player problem... First, did installing the debug version fix the problem? (You are probably still using the debug since the Shareaza installer often fails downgrading to older version.)

Second, I don't use the Shareaza media player and have set it to use Media Player Classic Home Cinema instead, so I don't actually know much about the new media player, but I think this would generally be a problem in the output of whatever video decoder you are using, not the media player. So, do other media player play these videos correctly?

Thanks for the help guys, I'm glad to here it's safe to continue using the debug build of shareaza, I assume that when the next version is released it will allow me to install it 'over the top' of the debug version though?

As far as the screen size issue, I've cracked it! It's a bit embarassing to say, but all I had to do was right click in the screen and select 'fill window' under video size, I do seem to have to do this for every new media file I play though... Setting the 'fill window' option as default doesn't seem to have any permanent effect.

Perhaps more seriously, windows forced my computer to restart last night for updates, and after re-starting my Shareaza library was completely EMPTY! after a bit of searching I found all of my files in the 'shareaza downloads' folder in 'documents'. Anything I seem to download with Sharaza now seems to completely bypass my actual Shareaza library, going streight into the 'shareaza downloads' folder in 'documents'. How do I re-populate my shareaza library, and make sure downloads go there rather than streight to the 'shareaza downloads' folder as they seem to be at the moment?

Many thanks in advance for any advice you guys have, k+ :)

Settings/downloads is where the location of Shareaza download folder is set. Although it almost looks like Shareaza is having problems accessing its settings. If so changing the folder in settings will not work and you may need to do a clean reinstall.

First of all, a massive thanks to ailurophobe, I followed you advice, uninstalled shareaza from add/remove programes, and re-installed from the sourceforge website, my library is now showing in shareaza again :)

I still get the pesky messages when starting shareaza though... you mentioned in another thread a 'command line switch' was available to put a stop to this. Forgive my ignorance, but what is a 'command line switch' and how would I do this?

Thanks in advance dude!
