Smart Download Preview - Too Sensitive

Postby hariseldon1 » 14 Aug 2010 20:32

On the Transfers page, I like to use the Ctrl and/or Shift keys to reorder my downloads. I'll often grab a dozen or more and move them up/down to change where they are on the Transfers page and/or when they will be downloaded. (Most of the files on my Transfers page are 'paused'.)

After selecting (highlighting) several files that I want to move, Shareaza unexpectedly brings up the "Smart Download Preview" dialog box and begins assembling file parts to preview. I have to 'Cancel' the first one and then the next one and then the next, going through each of the many files I've selected to move up or down on my Transfers page.

I've tried to be careful and do it slowly, but too often the "Smart Download Preview" box interrupts my attempt to reorder the files on my Transfers page.

Is there some way to turn down the sensitivity of this "Smart Download Preview" action, or have it come up only when a user has definitely requested it?

Hari

you probably double-clicked one of the files accidentally

Double click is triggered when you make a second click within a certain time within a box of certain size. If you move the mouse vertically to click adjacent lines and the vertical size of the box is large in relation to the height of the lines, the result is a double-click no matter how careful you are. There are three ways to fix this.

1. Do it slow. If the time between clicks is longer than the set delay, no double-click happens. The delay can be changed faster in mouse settings, which may be easier.

2. Also move the cursor horizontally when clicking adjacent lines to get it out of the double-click box.

3. Either make the lines bigger by changing the text size or the double-click box smaller by changing mouse settings.

The reason is probably what is told. But I have to note that sometimes GUI does not work how it supposed to, or at least we can say works different on different versions of Windows.

Sadly, I can't really tell you how to do either of those since I don't know.

I have never tried changing the Shareaza text size, so I don't know if changing the default Windows text size (which apparently in W7 (which I am using now) happens some place else than where I thought it happened in XP) does it or if Shareazas support of skinning means you have to change it with the Shareaza skin. People who like dabbling with skins and such probably know. In any case I doubt it is worth actually doing.

As for changing the double-click box size, it is a mouse setting that your mouse firmware may or may not give you an user interface for. The default Windows drivers don't seem to. You can probably still find it in the registry by looking for "DoubleClickHeight". Although I do not know if that is different for other Windows versions or mouse drivers.

There might be a way with Shareaza skining to change the text size, but IMHO that's overkill...
