visualisation in media window

i am using ver 2.5.3.0 with windows xp pro sp3. when i am in the media window listening to music, there is a pulsating visualisation that goes with the beat of song i am listening to. when the next song plays a different visualisation is displayed. i tried to turn it off via audio visualisation plugin and i still get the visualisation (in the window it says no visualisation), what i am trying to get is a plain black window when listening to songs. any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated. also if a person was looking for a plugin where they find it? thanx in advance.
