went to port forward.com to get instructions on how to configure my router to work with SHAREAZA. When I entered the router model (motorola SBG6580) to download the instructions, there were none. Instead, they implied that I would have to purchace thier "router configuring" software. Is this a scam? If I log onto my router, go to the "FOWARDING" tab, enter port # "6346" in the box for START PORT and port # "6346 in the box for END PORT, won't this work?

In most cases you need just to turn on "UPnP" service in your router and use latest (daily build) Shareaza (also with "UPnP" option on).

Check this (it's quite hidden):
http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... a/SBG6580/Just add your IP at the first column, 4636 as the start and end port (if you haven't changed it or set as random)and tick "Enable".

thanks for advice. worked for a while, but have new problem. I updated to newest Shaeaza, set it up as always. It connects to the network (2 hubs) like usual. I can upload with no problems but my downloads seem restricted. (nothing to do with the set-up - i have been using and upgrading shareaza for years and have had no problems) I have been using the "shareaza connection test" every time I connect. Sometimes the test will state that there is a problem with the "TCP" conection, but that the "UDP" connection is fine. The next time I use shareaza and test the connection, the test will state just the opposit -"TCP" is fine but "UDP" failed. Have been through firewall and router configuration and found no problems - even tried uninstalling and reinstalling shareaza, but problem still exists. Any ideas?

Seems strange... Did you manually set up port forwarding on your router and gave the PC you're using Shareaza on a static IP?
