Shareaza and it's reporting pxwma.dll - false postive ???

Postby hdowns » 21 Nov 2009 07:21

Hello. Recently I had installed Roxio Creator 10 moving up from Roxio Media Creator7. I had Shareaza 2.40 on my system, once I went into Shareaza tonight, I got greeted with a new installation package todownload and install. What I got presented on install run of it was that I hada file c:\winodws\system32\pxwma.dll on my system and I needed to delte it before install due to adware or malware issues. I chose to cancel for time being in orderto research this topic. What I found under a topic --- http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.p ... topic=4109 --- at end of the page a forum update direct from the roxio administrator about this file and it stated not to delete unless you want to upset the PX burning engine within Roxio file folder system. I did a scan with tow formidable scanners, Spy SWeepr, and Ad-aware. Both of these did not report this file There is a false positve because there is another real pxwma.dll file being a problem under a webredir -ector malware issue. Shareaza developers need to correct this in there installation some how not to prompt users to delte this. You might ebnd up damaging applications unknowingly with reckless disregard of the users systems and their applications. Please review this and correct it before Shareaza 2.5 gets to entrenched across the web.
