Shareaza

Hey all, I'm a newbie to the sourceforge boards so please forgive any gaffs I might make today.

I like shareaza, use it all the time, but there are a few features I'd like to see added.

1 - Currently, when I start a heap of downloads (as I often do, to maximise chances of success) they all end up in a long list in my downloads window. It would be great if I could create a folder *within* the downloads window to group the related items together.

2 - When moving items up and down in the downloads window in order to better group them, especially when I have a long list that needs to be scrolled a fair bit, the list does not scroll when I get the item(s) to the top or bottom of the window. It would be nicer if I could keep the items selected (LH mouse button still pressed down) and have the list scroll as I bump the top or bottom of the page.

3 - All the files I download end up in the one folder on my hard drive, but it would be very handy if the files that I grouped together in Desired-feature-1 (above) were to end up in their respective sub-folders, probably as sub-folders of the main downloads folder on the hard drive.

The funny thing about Shareaza is that while the current development is not very aggressive due to lack of developers, it really was designed as "the Ultimate File Sharing" so it has lots of old features that are lot more powerful than most users really need. The download groups is one example. Another is the upload queue system that is rather difficult to understand (even when you think you do, you probably still misunderstood what it actually means...), but can easily do things that are just not possible in many other programs. Including many things that even long time users don't know can be done.

Don't keep many active downloads (I assume its a torrents) - its very ineffective. Shareaza able to share every file from Library (which is pretty organized), so just use magnet-links to publish your files.

Use download groups then.

Torrents don't get automatically added to the torrents group. Was there a reason to this or has it just been overlooked?

Have a look at the group settings. There should be a check box for BT downloads that has to be checked/unchecked to add torrent downloads to that group.
