Ok I give

Postby stbaskets » 09 Oct 2009 21:34

I am still having trouble with sz, I am getting no downloads, I am not connecting to G2 even though I did the add all sources thing someone suggested, the program itself runs horribly slow, I tried to download a new release since I am using a daily build and I keep getting a message saying it's out of date, but the page never loads, I tried downloading the release on the main page but when I tried to install it there was a message telling me a .dll file was missing and when I canceled it it did something to the version I had installed so that no longer works. So as much as I hate to can anyone suggest another program to use and tell me how I can transfer my partial downloads to it? TIA

We are sorry for you disadvantages, if that would work fully OK it would be published as stable release already, but it is not yet.

You always can use 2.4.0.0 so called last stable version from download site.
You can use, like I do, so called debug build from Shareaza Debug Builds also called Daylies as they are compiled and published everyday or every few days. If your Shareaza monited you it "has expired" it just mean you should use a newer one. The problem is they are updated every new compilation, and are for testing, so they can cause troubles - this is obvious disadvantage - the advantage is in daylies (debugs) are fixed already noticed bugs and now have much more possibilities then last stable 2.4.0.0.. The tip is that you should check if a new one has appeared for download. Eg now I just have downloaded 2.4.0.4 in r8224, I was using r8223 last few days and have reported one error I have noticed - but reporting errors is not a duty, it is a good will. This is my small contribution to development process and making Shareaza better and better (well I hope this is true ;) ).
One day it will be fixed enough and it will be published for download as new stable release.
What is very probable for me: use last, most recent, debug and you will notice positive difference. You can just overinstall. Do not stay with this particular one "for ever" update to newer: 1 - when you don't like how it works (your case) 2 - at last when Shareaza monits you (about "expired", note expired do not change anything in your installation, this is just a reminder).

Yes, you are pissed of, this is reasonable. Unfortunately so far humanity has no better way to develop software. And also there is no better way to adjust it to users needs then let users to betatest of new code. This is why we are doing this, but not to make your life harder - believe me.

Try last 2.4.0.4 debug please (with a few thousands fixes and corrections and new code, like torrents) or last 2.4.0.0 stable release (final, but already about one year old). We hope next final will come in nearest days or weeks at last.

I tried that already and got a message stating a .dll file was missing, when I had to abort it it messed something up so the installed version wouldn't work either.

You can use, like I do, so called debug build from Shareaza Debug Builds also called Daylies as they are compiled and published everyday or every few days.

I tried downloading them and the problems still exist.

I still have no downloads, I only have 2 connections, G2 will not connect, sz itself runs horribly slow, and I just tried using a debug build and it crashed after a minute of running, and I also got a trojan warning from Norton even though I had already allowed sz access. Nothing is working.

Perhaps there is something else in your system disturbing? What you have described is upset but this can have many reasons, not only Shareaza. What .dll is missed? Have you installed before Fakeaza, so false installer of malware in file "ShreazaV5.exe" or 4 or 6 etc? This is not Shareaza behaviour to do anything with current installation when any .dll would be missed. What system do you use? What machine? CPU? memory? HDD?

I think you should to "clean instal" so remove everything from sys including cleaning register if you are not afraid to manipulate with it, download fress installer and install it again from the begining.

But before scan it with good antyvir soft. I can't be sure of this but seems to me there is something malware/virus in your system.

You should make a connection test to check if you set up properly firewall and port forwarding. Test is located in help menu.

Have you read "Shareaza Instal Guide" by OldDeath? This is dettailed pdf saying how to set all this properly. Please download it and have a look.

As for many other ppl it work, there must be a reason why it doesn't for you. It is just a question to find why. We can help you but you must do it. Saying only "this not work' will not help. Let us know conection test effect? What dll is missed? And things asked above.

I have read your post once again a few times and I think this doesn't work because just your system is infected or scummed. I in such a case I would reformat whole partition and install system from the beginning and all rest of soft. If you don't want then you must use good antivir and kill an malware. I think so as Shareaza just does not behave this way normally. Or I haven't just undestood you. Check everything step by step from the beginng.
