"can't move" staus

Postby seterk » 08 Nov 2009 06:22

Just had 2.5 installed with my new computer. Completed transfers are supposed to automatically move to my download folder. But when a file completes it says "can't move"-if I press "clear completed" it will say "moving" for about 1 second then just go back to "can't move." Any help? Thanks

Do you have enough HDD space in destination? Shareaza should try copy file and after it wil be okto clear source. If aviable space is less then the file + 200MB Shareaza need then I think there is no enough space - so it can't move.

It's a brand new computer with tons of hdd. Everything worked fine before. We did reinstall shareaza and renamed the download file, and it is still in the same part of the directory. Seems like something simple, just can't figure it out!

Same problem. 18 GB free space, 3 GB to be moved. But post installing Sheraza 2.5.0.0 all moves have stopped. Only message is "Can't move".

I'm having the same problem.
I did an upgrade to 2.5.0.0 and now one file has a "Can't Move" status.
The file is 7mb, and I have over 200GB free on the drive.
I took a look in the "incomplete" folder, and don't see that file in there.

So perhaps this is a new bug. We need to know as much as possible what sys, CPU, memory, HDD, what network you were downloading when it happens etc.etc. to find what are similarities among all of you and to try to find a reason, eliminate it and fix it. Perhaps this is a conflict with a soft working in background or whatever else, I don't have any idea fpr now. Sorry. :(

MS Win XP Pro, AMD Quad Core, 3GB RAM
incomplete dir on a local 500GB HD, completed dir on a network shared 750GB RAID volume.
Many files are downloading and being saved just fine.
I'm now up to 5 files that have a "can't move" status.
If I right-click on them in the Downloads window, only "Resume" and "Cancel" are enabled.
I don't know which network they were last downloading from.

Also changed the destination folder, still not moving

Hey guys I re-installed 2.4.0.0 and voila problem solved. Seems to be some issue related to creation of the torrents folder after completion of the download. Cheers

I'm now up to 8 files with a "can't move" status.
I did some digging to find one in the incomplete folder.
Hold the cursor over the file, and let the popup show the various sha1:, ed2k:, etc.. codes.
Then looking in the incomplete folder (by size, then verifying the file name is one of the codes.).
I then copied it to another folder and renamed it to be the file I was expecting.
It seems to be complete and correct. (at least the mpg played all the way through with no blatant problems.)

The problem should be solved with the latest debug build. It can be downloaded on the bottom of the download page (you can take any revision number superior or equal to 8308).

Interesting, the first time I posted this info it never appeared on the site.

What I found with the "Can't move" files is that they still exist in the "incomplete" directory.
I used the file size, and then the "sha1:" value (found via cursor hover over file in downloads list) to find the file.
I then copied it to another directory and renamed it to it's correct name.
File seems to be valid.

The file might still be somehow corrupted, even if you don't see it at first glance. maybe is will crash your computer at a specific place, maybe it will show (in the case of a video) a frame with completely rubbish somewhere in the middle...? who knows. Instead of moving them like this, you should use the advanced option to forget current verification status and reverify.

With Build 8317 (release) the files that were "can't move" are now "File Error".
While the "properties" menu item is enabled for them, it doesn't actually do anything.
I can open the "Monitor Window" on those files, and they show as 100% downloaded, and are Paused.
If I "Resume Download" on them, they switch to "Verifying" for a few seconds, then go back to "File Error".

Oh, and it won't let me "Find More Sources", and the original source seems to be gone.

And there is no possibility to "Assume file is 100% complete and reverify"?

Do the file names contain odd characters? If so I think raspopov just fixed it. I actually have seen this before, so it is an old bug. Try renaming the files to something short and simple as a test.

hmmm...
Try to reload the files into Shareaza. Back up the broken Incompletes. Use the hashes and add them as a download to Shareaza. (either by searching for them or by just creating a magnet link and replacing the respective hash (while deleting everything else from the link) ) Then use the advanced properties to reimport the data of the broken incomplete files. Shareaza should now verify the files and you are sure that there are without errors.

I get the "can't move" business also after updating my shareaza. I have a 520 G harddrive with 90 percent of it left - so I think I have PLENTY of room! UGH!!

Have you tried a clean reinstall? And you might as well try a debug build. Your problems seem to me severe enough that they might either be due to a corrupted executable or something other people would almost certainly have noticed and that might already be fixed in later builds.

Hi,

Not a lot of people know and use all the features, I am not surprised that nobody goes really further in analyzing side effects. Besides i am used to look everywhere when a problem appears.

Anyway, I have tried a release of 2.5.0.1, namely Shareaza_2.5.0.1_Win32_Release_r8359_2009-11-27.exe and all the problems mentioned earlier are solved. Note that I installed it the same way than before over the previous version.

I have discovered a way to crash shareaza while trying the revision 8359, easy to reproduce but I am not sure where I have to report it exactly. It is related to the "merge and verify" when the merge is running out of disk space... So where do I report it?
