The PTB decided to do away with the good old media player for what I hear a variety of reasons that go from is was an old 32k build, the code was not available but was being reused as a DLL with code worked around it and so on. Yes the media player they now have is right now of inferior quality in many terms and sadly it will take quite some time for them to bring it up up to par if ever to the good O'l media player with alll the features, great visualizations and UI the old one used to have. There is absolutely no solution to this whatsoever other than to try to download a third party media player that at least partly resembles what the old internal media player did, the only one I have been able to find is KMPLAYER. And the preview file option is not working that great either with quite a few files anyway. They will probably recommend you as they have all users that have upgraded to 2.5 to move to the Debug builds. Whether you do it or not is entirely up to you. The Builds could end up solving things and also making things worse (for the end user anyway) as they are well test programs of the application (It does help them though despite whatever damages it may or may not cause to your machine, files etc as it gives them a report to try to fix the problems). I think that they launched what they thought what they thought was a product ready to be released as a finalized product and that people would not notice the downgraded media player among other things but they did so now their only alternative is in fact to place in their main website for people that have upgraded to move to Debug builds and for those that haven't to keep using 2.4 up till a more stable platform is truly built.
