Something has happened and I am not getting downloads again. I have fantastic upload speed, no downloads. I have made the changes suggested in the install guide. I have run the EVD patch and I have 50 half open limits. I have run everything to clean up my pc. I still get nothing. Any suggestions before I rip shareaza out of my pc forever?

I've also run the connection test and passed both the incoming and outgoing with no problem.

your ISP could be throttling you. try switching to another port number besides 6346 and see if that helps

I think I am just going to uninstall sz. I have had to come here numerous times for help and it's just not worth it anymore.

I know not getting the files you want is frustrating, but changing the port you're using is rather easy. Start with the connection test and see what port you're currently using. If it's the default port (6346) just click Tools (pull-down menu) and Shareaza Settings. On the left pane of the windows that will be displayed click My connections and you'll see a box with the port number you're using. You may want to change it to something different, say 6512. Then disconnect Shareaza from the P2P networks and reconnect it (or just quit Shareaza and restart it), and see if the connection test is still OK.

If not, you'll need to change the port for the port forwarding settings of your router too, if you have one. Since you currently pass the connection test, I assume you either don't have a router, or that you know how to forward ports on it.

If the initial connection test succeeds and returns a different port number than 6346, then my guess would be that your router is configured automagically with UPnP. In that case, maybe your ISP is throttling the protocol rather than the port. Testing with a client that supports encryption (or protocol obuscation for eMule) for the protocol you're using (FrostWire for Gnutella, Vuze for BitTorrent, eMule for eDonkey) by disabling and then enabling the client's encryption features should give a clue.

I'm sure others will provide better advice than that, but hopefully this could be useful for a start.

I ran the connection test again using port 6346 and this is what I get.

TCP: The TCP connection has been accepted by your computer and the request has been answered. This means that other clients from the networks can properly connect to you.
UDP: An answer has been received from your client! This means that Shareaza is able to receive UDP packets from the network.
Congratulations, everything seems to be fine and Shareaza should work properly.

6346 is the default port for Gnutella, and some ISPs do filter or throttle it in order to reduce their bandwidth bill. Hence the idea is simply to change that port to something else to see if that fixes the problem. Have you tried that?

That said, I read the previous thread you had posted, apparently when you were experiencing the same problem. I must recognize I don't see what the problem could be. Hopefully someone else will have a better idea.

And now after three days of nothing I get up to find it running at 163 KB/s in. No explanation, no clue what happened, no ideas, nothing.

Could you give a more exact description of the problem? I think you pass the connection test and can upload, so you probably can connect to both hubs and servers, but the exact nature of not downloading is bit unclear to me. Can you find sources for the files? Can you connect to the sources and queue for a download? Can you do a search? You can try searching for a very common file (for G2 the Shareaza installer would do it) guaranteed to have plenty of sources and see if that changes anything. Also are all networks blocked? All networks have specific problems that can block downloads from them even if other networks work fine. Does doing a reboot of your PC or router help? If you disconnect from hubs or servers, what happens? The system log in the network tab can occasionally be useful, especially if you right-click on it and increase the verbosity level. Also reading through the manuals of your router and anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewall software installed on your PC can be useful. They can have all kinds of not quite working correctly "protection" features enabled by default.

Anyway, having it sometimes work suggests your Shareaza is properly installed and configured. And passing the connection test means your port forwards and connection settings are fine.
