I would like to see a feature on shareaza network tab where you can see how many users are online on G2 network for example, taking the data from here http://crawler.trillinux.org/versions.html
I think it would be cool to see that on shareaza where i put the arrow in the picture!
Yeah, that might be a cool idea... However if we were to do this, all clients on the network would have to request that data in intervals from the crawler (or any other) website... This would probably be a big waste of resources...
Would it be possible to make a web site in wordpress (for example) wich the only pupouse is to show how many users are in G2 and nothing more than that, taking the information from here http://crawler.trillinux.org/versions.html, and then make shareaza to conect to the site and "take" this infomation ?
Perhaps the easiest way would be to just add an extra child to the crawler packets that tells the hub what the crawler thinks the current network size is and then have the leaves get it from the hub? That way the extra load on the server would be minimal.
Since the number is not actually useful you can use the median of the last three numbers or something like that. With the leaf doing that to the number it shows and the hubs doing it to the numbers they forward, all weird numbers should be filtered out. Unless of course somebody choose to spend significant resources on spoofing trivia... Not sure what kinds of info the crawler has that would be useful to forward, though.
