Strange Search Performance

Postby lukeh7 » 10 Sep 2009 16:34

When I tried to use Shareaza (2.4.0.0) today, it acted very differently than it ever has before. Normally, the number of hubs and leaves in the lower left hand corner of the Shareaza search panel (under Results) has gone steadily up while it is searching. Today, the number went up by a little (20 hubs, 3269 leaves), and then seems to freeze there.

And files are generally not found.

I'm using the current release of Vista, and yes, it did download a Vista update on Tuesday night. I'm using Gnutella1 and Gnutella2, and both seem to be active and connected (3 G2 hots, and 5 G1 hosts). I'm using port 6346, properly forwarded in my router, and the connection test runs fine for tcp & udp.

Ideas?

Oh... and my host cache is empty. Is this good, bad, or indifferent? And my search monitor hardly has any entries... most of them say "Development". Huh?

Thanks!

I poked around some more. I was just not using the host cache window properly. I didn't realize you had to click on the type of network... once I clicked on G1 orG2, I had plenty of entries.

My searches are typically searching under a hundred hubs, and under 10,000 leaves before effectively stopping. Is this at all normal??

offtopic:
1) I would sugest you to use 2.4.0.4 instead of 2.4.0.0, it is 2.4.1.0 Release Candidate and it just works better. Can be download from download page, at the bottom is link to so called debug builds, there are both: debug and release vesion.
2) I think the more hubs Shareaza can search the better search can be. I think this is normal. Problem would be if Shareaza would stop search after a few hubs only, and could not find what is needed. That would mean that you are on "isolated island" and have no access to whole network. It is good you are not.

Im not sure what your problem might be, in about 30 seconds I have searched 118 hubs and 23000 leaves. This is on 2.4.0.0. Could be something interfering with your connection?
