My Profile

Click on this button to edit your Profile. The Screen name you enter here is used as nickname in the P2P chat and it will show up in search results and on the uploads/downloads tab instead of your IP. Other users can see your full profile by browsing you if the Allow others to browse my user profile checkbox is enabled. You should at least enter your nickname and your location, because Shareaza uses this information. You can see your profile by browsing yourself. To do this select "Browse Host" from the Network menu and enter 127.0.0.1 as IP and the port which can be specified in the Connection settings page (Default is 6346).

Avatar You can select an avatar image here. It has to be of 128 x 128 pixels and can be in anypicture format supported by your PC. (Most common formats are PNG, GIF, JPEG or BMP.) Other users can see your avatar if they browse your profile.

Favourites You can add some favourite Internet links which will also be shown in your profile.

Files The files which you add to your Favourites folder in the library are shown here. These files are also visible in your profile.

Certificate Each client has a unique ID. Normally you don't need to change this, however it may allow a malicious person to trace your activities. You can force Shareaza to generate a new Globally Unique Identification Certificate (GUID) by clicking on the Generate New button. There is usually no real need to do this often.

Chat

Settings that allow you to control whether to allow chatting, and on what networks.

Enable P2P chat with compatible clients If you enable this, other users can chat with you. If another user wants to chat with you, a window will pop up. You can initiate a chat session with other users by using the chat command from the contextual menu on a host on the network tab, a search result or an up- or download session. The other end must have chat enabled for this to work.

Enable chat over other protocols (where possible) Enables chat with compatible ed2k clients (such as eMule).

Filter chat messages for spam Filters out several common spam messages, so that these messages never open a new chat window.

Censor profanity in chat Censors certain profane words appearing in incoming chat messages.
